The Trump administration has continued to attempt to enforce what most people with a logical mind can understand to be reasonable actions and activities. We have seen this effort primarily in his executive orders mandating such things as female only participation in female sports (I know, that seems to be rather superfluous, but we know that today what constitutes a woman is strangely controversial). These actions are in keeping with the president’s campaign promises to return sanity to so many areas which, under the previous administration, had lost all semblance of order and reason.
As we know, however, human nature being what it is, wickedness
and aberrant thinking will not go silently and peacefully into the night. You may
have guessed by now that many localities, rather than submitting to a simple
and logical mandate have determined that the way for them to get around such
demands is to simply redefine what an official flag is. That has happened, for
example, with the monstrosity that passes for the flag of the LGBTQ+ “community.”
That flag, an amalgamation of colors that has no rhyme or reason, is now flown
by several jurisdictions which have passed legislation making it an official
flag of that particular municipality.
As with so many things, this particular battle is a clear
demonstration that we who call ourselves by the name of Christ cannot simply rest
on our laurels because the federal government is passing laws or orders that
seem to return the country to seeming normalcy. Evil does not rest and, what
today is a trend to return to a measure of sanity will likely be rolled back as
soon as the forces of the left are back in power. Believe it or not, many of
our fellow countrymen are of the mind that such insanity is good and wholesome
or, at best, will simply shrug and say, “what’s the harm?”
And so, “what’s the harm” has become the default state of
many who simply don’t want to do the hard work of standing for the right. That mantra
has been the cause of untold harm because it gives people an excuse to allow
anything that does not directly impact them. What’s the harm? For starters, God
has determined what is good and what is evil and to go against His will is to
create untold damage for society. In addition, we see the harm such attitudes
create when we allow people to think that their deviance is somehow good and
wholesome. It goes without saying that the homosexual lifestyle, just to
mention one, is extremely destructive to those involved in it and society in
general. To simply allow people to think that a behavior that will eventually
lead them to hell is fine because “what’s the harm?” is wicked to the utmost.
No doubt it is hard to stand against all the wickedness that
characterizes our society today. We have been called to be different, however,
and although it may be hard and it may be dangerous, our God calls us to stand
against the tide. In the end, God will vindicate His own and our work will “not
be in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:28).
