While many in the church spent the past few weeks whining
about having to wear a mask or throwing temper tantrums because they have to
social distance, the Supreme Court of these United States handed down a ruling
in the Bostock vs. Clayton County case. The decision that the court handed
down, will have repercussions for everyone in this country, and especially the
church, for the foreseeable future. This is what Kyle Blanchette, writing for National
Review, in its online edition of June 18th, 2020 had to say
specifically about Neil Gorsuch and his reasoning in siding with the majority.
“Neil Gorsuch, writing for the majority, based the Court’s
ruling on the claim that discrimination on the basis of gender identity (and
sexual orientation) necessarily
involves discrimination on the basis of sex. Accordingly, if
discrimination on the basis of sex is made illegal by the Civil Rights Act, so
is discrimination on the basis of gender identity (and sexual orientation). He
writes:
‘An employer who fires an
individual for being homosexual or transgender fires that person for traits or
actions it would not have questioned in members of a different sex. Sex plays a
necessary and undisguisable role in the decision, exactly what Title VII
forbids.’”
By now we have all, unfortunately,
gotten used to the Supreme Court making decisions and creating laws out of
whole cloth. What the socialists in this country have not been able to achieve
by passing laws through the legislature, they have attained by litigating on
everything and anything. As in the 19th century with cases such as
the Dred Scott decision, the court has shown itself to be the arm of whatever
political winds are blowing at the time. Then, the court was firmly entrenched
in the slavery camp. Today, it is the Marxist side that claims the court as its
staunch ally.
It is worth noting that Mr. Gorsuch
is a member of an Episcopalian church that not only has a woman “pastor” as its
leader, but as with the entire denomination, has gone over the cliff in
affirming homosexuality and the perversions that have been spun from that
sinful behavior. So, it should not be surprising to see him find some sort of
reasoning, however tortured, to justify his decision. To say that
transgenderism is akin to the binary sexual design of God is to invent a
category that no one would have thought possible in 1964 when Title VII was
passed. Sure, there were homosexuals then, but they were not in view when the
act was passed. Nowhere in its pages do you read that homosexuals should not be
discriminated against because of their sex. The act understood that even if one
is a homosexual, he is still either a man or a woman.
No longer. Now you can be, legally, whatever
it is you want to be. No doubt many will come to the defense of transgender
individuals by claiming that they were being discriminated against. Let’s leave
aside for the moment the fact that people who are either mentally convinced
that they are a different gender or who simply want to be the other sex are a
miniscule portion of the population. Rather, let’s examine the real
consequences of policies such as the one we have just been forced to accept as
law. That means that men can now “choose” to be women and participate in women
sports. They can enter a female locker or bathroom at, say a gym and no one can
impede them doing so. They can go into the rest room behind your 15-year-old
daughter and they must be allowed to do so because, hey after all they “feel”
they’re a woman. To those who often justify such behavior by saying things like
“it doesn’t hurt anyone,” your decaying, sinking ship has just pulled into port.
All this without even mentioning the fact that those who turn
themselves into the opposite sex not only destroy their God-given capacity to
procreate, but they must do so by mutilating their bodies to the point where it
cannot any longer be called a human body. No matter how advanced science
becomes, it cannot accomplish what only God can. The body that God gave us at
birth is a beautiful demonstration of His creative power. For us to decide that
He made a mistake is not only arrogant, but deadly.
The most unfortunate part of all this is that, as I mentioned
above, many so-called Christian churches have abandoned all pretense of
following God’s law and have given themselves over to the worship of Moloch. And
the justification is often that God is love and He wouldn’t want us to “discriminate”
against our transgender “brothers and sisters.” Does what God want matter
anymore? Does His law mean anything to us or is it just an option that we can
discard whenever we find it convenient to do so?
Our prayer should be that God will grant repentance to the
myriads of people who have been deceived into thinking none of this matters.
And we have one of the major political parties in this country primarily to
thank for this state of affairs. To a man the Democratic party in this country
has sold its soul to the devil of socialism. Abortion and homosexuality are
part of its party platform. The presumptive candidate for president in the next
election made it clear that the transgender agenda is going to be his priority
when he becomes president. If you are a Christian and you think that voting for
such candidates is inconsequential, your chickens have come home to roost and
they are making an awful lot of noise!
Absolutely true! I hope everyone in our church reads what you wrote. (As an aside, how about the church publishing some "position papers" for distribution??) Let me add a few of my own words I wrote somewhere at FB earlier today. --- Certainly there can be no ultimate hope in man or anything he touches. And certainly lost men are guided by their fallen natures (and yet constrained even then by a God merciful to His people). That said, let's not say absolutely that "nothing should shock or surprise us anymore." Perhaps our relative lack of shock and surprise suggests we are too easily accommodating and numbed to wickedness. Let me illustrate. I note that many younger people are NOT shocked or surprised by homosexual marriage. Even Christian young people. Why? Is it out of some sweeping resolve to NOT be shocked or surprised? I doubt it. I think it's mostly conditioning mixed with resignation and a measure of acceptance. If you have never lived, (as I have, able to remember back to the late 1950's) when such acceptance and promotion of wickedness was ANYTHING but normal, and was not deeply and openly wedded to culture, academia and Hollywood - you might indeed find you can yet be shocked and surprised, and I'll add to that repulsed. In regards to homosexuality, and "woke" riots and a dozen other such things I lived in Mayberry times (Andy Griffith show). When you see Opie, that was me. I am exactly the same age as Ron Howard. That was the world I grew up in. That's not the world even my children now in their 40's grew up in, all of whom though they may mildly and privately disagree with some shenanigans today, mostly are "not surprised." And consequently, they are not much made uncomfortable by the attending wickedness. On the other hand, I am "vexed" 2nd Peter 2: 6-8 7 says:

I hope that in our own ways we are yet very vexed by the blatantly unchristian turn of the supreme court.
David, thank you for your comments. It does seem that we have become so conditioned to what goes on around us that we sort of shrug our collective shoulders and move on. But we should be vexed, if for no other reason than that those who engage in such behavior will have to pay a horrible price for their defiance. There is still hope and it is my own hope that God will bring about a revival that will overcome the foolishness of man and will save the mass of those who today are shaking their little fist at him. I fear for future generations who will live in a world where debauchery will be common place. We still have some of the freedoms that this country was founded upon; but they are rapidly dwindling and it will not be long before "bowing the knee to Caesar" will be the law of the land. May God strengthen and increase our faith so that we will be able to stand in the "Day of the Son of Man." Blessings

I just don't get how this can happen (besides sin) and then passed/accepted?? Where are the controls? Asking for a friend...
ReplyDeleteWell...please tell your friend that the mantra of the left (and it has been since Marx first appeared on the scene of human history), is that the end justifies the means. Thus, if going to court to create laws that they can't get the legislatures to pass, then that's what they'll do. And I must say, to my chagrin, that they have been extremely effective in doing so. All the way back to Roe vs. Wade in 1973, they were already finding "rights" in the constitution that had nothing to do with the document or even with the intent of the document. And they have only gotten better at it. We now live in a society where legislative branches are becoming subservient to judicial fiat. It is no longer the norm to see a law passed and understand that we must now live under that particular law, because some judge, somewhere will eventually overthrow it if it is not part of the leftist agenda. May God have mercy on this country, but more importantly, may He gird us up so we can stand against this tide of sinfulness and depravity. Blessings
